GLIA RELEASETM a yoga-inspired series, these workouts combine muscle work, positioning, and active holds to try and release the tight spastic muscles around the shoulder, elbow and hand. We will focus on bringing the arm away from the body, straightening the arm and opening the hand.
What you will learn
This yoga-inspired program teaches you how to perform stretches and manual muscle techniques to reduce tension in your muscles and joints of the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand. This may improve spasticity and tone at rest and during movement, which may lead to more comfort, better quality sleep and quality of life. In addition, you will also learn specific techniques to reduce discomfort associated with tension developed in the nerves of your arm, which may be the result of shortened muscles and limited range of movement in your joints after stroke.
The program includes a step-by-step followable workout that is side-specific and can be worked at your own pace as many times as you wish. The program progresses from easy to more difficult techniques and positions, and may form part of your maintenance program to prevent further deterioration.
