GLIA PARTNERTM seeks to develop and improve a caregiver’s confidence in handling your partner’s arm or hand after stroke. It will start with unpacking relevant neuroscience and physical therapy principles, then go into options for positioning and exercises to enhance recovery.
What you will learn
This program teaches your partner, family member, caregiver or support worker the skills to develop confidence in handling the upper limb after stroke. This program teaches you and your partner manual handling techniques in a safe manner for both you and your partner, and how to use positioning and other props to assist in contracture prevention if customised splints are unavailable.
This program also teaches your partner important tools on how to help you stay motivated, healthy and physically fit. The program also discusses important things to observe and monitor over time that can make a difference to your overall quality of life.
